PRASA ai is an independent, free train app and website for PRASA (Metrorail) commuters in Cape Town, Gauteng, Durban and East London. It shows your next trains, where to change and every station's timetable, from PRASA's published timetables. It started in 2026 as a WhatsApp assistant in Cape Town.

Our story
PRASA ai started on a train platform in Cape Town, at 6:47 one morning with no train in sight. Many PRASA commuters know that feeling. They had already built their own fix: informal WhatsApp groups sharing sightings and delays.
So we built a proper one. PRASA ai knows PRASA's published timetable, checks PRASA's service alerts, collects rider reports, and understands "muizi to town". It started as one WhatsApp message away; now it's a free app you add straight from this website, no Play Store needed.

Honest numbers
Every figure we publish shows its source and date. Sample figures are labelled as samples, and train positions are always marked as estimated.
Private by design
Phone numbers are encrypted, riders can delete everything with one message, and anything we publish is anonymised and grouped. Privacy policy
Where we're going
Cape Town's trains are getting better, with new trains and renewed investment. Passenger information should keep pace. This website now has station and line timetables for Cape Town, Gauteng, Durban and East London. Next come a living timetable map and weekly public insight into what riders ask.
