Four stops on the Southern Line, all on the sea. Take a train from Cape Town towards Fish Hoek or Simon’s Town and get off where you like: the line runs along the water from Muizenberg to Fish Hoek, and each place below is a short walk from its platform.
How to do it
- Go out in the morning and get off at the furthest stop first, then work your way back towards Cape Town.
- Check the last train back (in the table above) before you settle in for lunch.
- There are no Sunday trains: PRASA publishes no Sunday timetable.
Travel tips
The UK government’s travel advice lists PRASA’s Metrorail trains among transport with a higher risk of theft, so it is worth a little care:
- Travel in daylight and at busier times, and sit in a busy carriage (Wikivoyage, Cape Town).
- Keep your phone and valuables out of sight on the platform and on the train (UK government travel advice).
- Times on this page are PRASA’s scheduled times. Trains can be late or cancelled: check the Cape Town service alerts before you go.
