The South Coast Line runs from Durban down the coast to Winklespruit, and its last stations sit just above the beaches. Take a train from Durban station towards Winklespruit and get off at whichever beach you like.

How to do it

  • Saturday has far fewer trains than a weekday: check the table above for the last train back.
  • There are no Sunday trains: PRASA publishes no Sunday timetable.
  • We have not checked lifeguard times for these beaches. Swim only where and when lifeguards are on duty.

Travel tips

The UK government’s travel advice lists PRASA’s Metrorail trains among transport with a higher risk of theft, so it is worth a little care:

  • Travel in daylight and at busier times, and sit in a busy carriage.
  • Keep your phone and valuables out of sight on the platform, on the train and on the beach (UK government travel advice).
  • Wikivoyage, Durban: avoid dark, deserted areas.
  • Times on this page are PRASA’s scheduled times. Trains can be late or cancelled.
